Dave Mastiff is a British pro wrestler. Mostly known from Progress, ICW, NGW and WCPW.
How long have you been in the professional wrestling business and why did you want to become a professional wrestler?
I've been wrestling 15 years. I always wanted to be a wrestler from childhood. I thought it was a cool job full of larger than life characters and tough guys.
What would you consider the hardest part about being a professional athlete?
I don't really consider any aspect of this hard. I've been through a lot of trial and error to get things where they are and how I want them to be. Essentially though I chose to be a pro wrestler and I'm fortunate to have that choice.
Where would you like to see yourself in the next 5 years in this industry?
My goal has always been working with WWE. So that's where I'd like to be in 5 years time.
Could you tell us some of your career highlights?
Personally I value the thousands of hours I've spent travelling and working with people who are my best friends as the biggest highlight. In the ring though my time with OVW is a significant highlight. That helped me on the path to many other opportunities I've had with WWE, Pro Wrestling NOAH etc.
If you can name 3 wrestlers who influence your style, who would they be?
Arn Anderson and Fit Finlay for sure but I use so many things from so many others such as Rollerball Rocco, Stan Hansen, Shawn Michaels, Steve Austin and many more.
Who would you put on the Mount Rushmore of pro wrestling?
Hulk Hogan, Steve Austin, The Rock, Ric Flair, Johnny Saint and Dynamite Kid.
Who would you say is the next breakthrough star in the British indy scene?
It should be Charlie Sterling.
With the sudden growth of indy wrestling, is WWE really the final place to be?
As a professional the place to be is the place that enhances your life the most.
Who do you think is the most underrated wrestler on the British Indy circuit.
Nobody is underrated. Underappreciated maybe but not underrated. The Hunter Brothers are under appreciated by vast quantities of fans and promoters. It's actually criminal.
Is it really all about the banter?
What else could it be about?
Who has the best beard in wrestling?
Who would your dream big man match be against?
How pissed were you when you got screwed out of the title by Grado in World of Sport?
Which World of Sport wrestler would you have loved to face if they were still in their prime?
Rocco, Saint, Finlay, Dynamite. Take your pick, there's dozens of unbelievably talented wrestlers from that era.
If you're really my dad, where's my pocket money for the past 30 years?
If you're 30 years old and still want pocket money you're doing something wrong.
Do you feel you gained any experience being in the TNA British Boot Camp?
Yes. It was an excellent experience that I was a part of with many close friends. It was exactly what I wanted at the time.
If you took on the role of The Godfather, after Charles Wright, would you tell everyone to get on the banter train?
Depends on health and safety regulations as to how many are on board.
Are there any people or organisations you’d like to give a special thank you / shout out to?
