Kelly Sixx is a British pro wrestler. Mostly known from Lucha Forever, Pride and Frontline Wrestling.
Thanks for taking your time out of your schedule to do this interview with us.
No problem, I’ve always got time for interviews, I’m just really slow at doing them haha!
First of all, please tell us a little about yourself.
I’ve been wrestling for over a decade, but only really trained properly and got stuck into it about 3-4 years ago. I’ve worked for way too many companies to mention, but big ones are Rev Pro, WCPW/Defiant, Frontline, IPW, Pride etc. Currently working for a mixture of places with some as-yet-unannounced stuff to come! Career highlights… First contenders at Rev Pro to main event a show, several title wins from RCWA, Pride and more.
What promotions would you like to work in?
I’d love to work Rev Pro again, and Progress. There’s some more but they’re in the pipeline so I can’t really say much…
Where did you train to become a wrestler?
Justin Richard’s School of Wrestling, then later the Portsmouth School of Wrestling. I’ve learnt most of my stuff on shows from experienced people.
For those unaware who you are, how would you describe your style and character?
Flashy, but not flippy? Haha. Dancy, elegant, trickster.
What would you consider the hardest part about being a professional athlete?
Diet, I love food. SO MUCH, like it’s my one true love and always has been.
Who are your dream opponents to face? And do you think you could beat them in their prime?
Currently want to face Speedball Mike Bailey, have wanted that for ages. Of all time it would be Shawn Michaels, and nah it’d get rekt m8 [English slang for he would get beat up/lose]
What is your opinion on the current state of pro wrestling in the UK?
It’s phenomenal. I’m so blessed to be a part of it and only hope to become a bigger part as time goes on.
You worked in many promotions up and down the country, including some local to me PWA and Pride as well as wrestling in Kapow, all in the South of the UK. Do you keep in touch with any of the talent or promotions?
A few people yeah, it’s odd when Pride collapsed, wish it didn’t but things change I guess, whether we want them to or not.
Can you tell me your thoughts of your time in the now defunct Pro Wrestling Pride and how you feel now it has come to an end, knowing you were there near the end?
I loved being there, learnt so much from wrestling so many experienced guys, and they gave me so many opportunities. Shame it went sour, I miss those days.
Will we ever see you back in Devon and Cornwall again? There’s the new REACH promotion in Plymouth, co-owned by Jason King and Grayson Reeves and Cornish Pro Wrestling [primarily] in Bodmin.
I have been meaning to contact them actually, let’s see what we can get going! Tweet/FB comment at them if you want it!
You were part of the Frontline Pro Wrestling debut show, where you teamed up with El Phantasmo and took on Kip Sabian and Damian Dunne, in which you were successful. Have you faced either of them before or teamed up with Damien Dunne before?
Faced Kip Sabian as more times than I can remember, wouldn’t change that. Damian once in a big multi-man, never done anything with Phantasmo until then!
How was the debut show in your eyes?
It was a fantastic show, really laid the groundwork for the vision Will has for it all. I can’t wait for it to take shape even more.
Are you heading back to Frontline in the future?
Yes, I’ll be there every show!
Any other dates/future appearances of yourself that you'd like to plug?
KAPOW are getting around more, check them out! Also just keep up with my Facebook fan page or twitter to find where I am.
I think a thanks to everyone that’s looked after me over the last however many months, so many good people out there. Not gonna list them off, but it’s great to know there are genuinely good people in the world.
